How Patricia Lofton Discovered Her Biological Sister Was None Other Than Oprah

Proactive Patricia

After Patricia celebrated her twentieth birthday, she decided that it was time to proactively find out what she could about her biological parents. Determined, she began her search by sifting through her adoption records. These records only divulge certain information which may be required for medical purposes – but keep the identity of the biological family secret.

Although Patricia had started out determined, she soon had to give up her search; working as a single mother didn’t leave her much free time.

Still, she wouldn’t give up on her hope of one day finding her birth-family – and her persistence would pay off.

When Aquarius was six years old, Patricia became pregnant once again. Despite the difficult circumstances – no father was in the picture this time, either – Patricia decided she wouldn’t give up this baby, either. When Andre – her first and only son – was born, she raised him alongside his older sister, working two jobs in order to bring in enough money to take care of them both.

But while her persistence and insistence on raising her children by herself was entirely worth it, it came with a significant price; she would have to put her search for her own biological family off for nearly two decades. When she would finally resume it, what she would discover would be nothing short of amazing.

Restarting the Search

Patricia Lofton spent her twenties and thirties working and caring for her children. Her life was full – but she still couldn’t ignore her need to know more about her biological family.

Restarting the Search

When she entered her forties and her children became independent, Patricia suddenly found herself with more time on her hands – and she knew just how to spend it. Now, with enough time and attention for it, she was ready to restart her search for her biological family – and she intended to start with finding her mother.

Leads Run Dry

After many decades of waiting, Patricia Lofton was finally ready to tackle the question of her biological family head on. At first, she reached out to her mother through her adoption agency. Luckily, her mother was still on record – but when the agency asked her if she’d be willing to reveal her identity and speak with Patricia, she refused. Maybe it was because she was embarrassed or remorseful about putting her up for adoption in the first place, but whatever the reason – she didn’t want anything to do with her biological daughter.
